Shane and Kathy, proud owners for over 15 years, decided it was time to refresh their beloved home. With their four grown kids and a growing number of grandchildren, they wanted a space that combined the comfort of a new home with the sentimental value of their long-time residence.
The most remarkable change is the seamless inside-outside transition that connects the newly expanded living area to a beautiful pool and entertaining space. This transformation more than doubled the usable outdoor area, making it perfect for hosting family gatherings. Whether it’s an afternoon by the pool or a barbecue with the grandkids, this space now accommodates their entire family with ease.
Inside, the living areas have been completely reimagined. The flat, uninspiring 2.7m ceilings have been replaced with soaring, raked ceilings reaching an impressive 4.5m at their highest point. This architectural feature floods the open-plan interior with natural light, creating a bright, airy atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming. Shane and Kathy now enjoy a stunning, modern space that’s perfect for their new chapter of life.
The Middle Road project presented a unique set of challenges and opportunities. The existing home had undergone two prior extensions over the past two decades: one added a spacious living area with raked ceilings, and the other introduced an extra garage, converting the original garage into a bedroom with an ensuite. These modifications resulted in internal brick walls and varying floor levels throughout the house.
To create a cohesive and modern living space, we meticulously hand-demolished approximately 70% of the existing structure. This careful approach allowed us to preserve the elements that the homeowners cherished while providing a solid foundation for the new construction. We then expanded and rebuilt the home, enhancing its functionality and infusing it with an incredible sense of style.
Understanding the importance of minimizing disruption, we adhered to a tight timeline to reduce the period the homeowners needed to relocate. Our commitment to efficient project management ensured that the family could return to their beautifully transformed home as quickly as possible, keeping
additional living expenses to a minimum.
